Bio
Hollands is the musical landscape of John-Paul Norpoth. Tracing influences as varied as Stravinsky, Paul Simon, Wilco and The Flaming Lips, Hollands is a combination of standard song form, witty and sometimes foolish lyricism; shifting characters pondering rock 'n' roll guilt. Norpoth crafts melodies ordinary and full-bodied yet arrangements reminiscent of Zorn, Spector and George Martin. Blending off-kilter and shambolic musical landscapes with soulful singing and a sharp wit, Hollands seeks a new morning only by shining the rims, packing the back-seat and running red lights all the way to the Pacific Rim. Norpoth also sings through his mouth with Butane Variations, learning much in the way of alt-country bliss, John Hartford and the Presidential Airbus. Hollands is written, performed, and produced by John-Paul Norpoth. With a voicemail full of friend favors in the New York City music community, he produces Hollands with no limits, laughing crookedly all the way back to the ATM machine.
